How is Datasafe different from other backup services?

Our software is completely client controlled. We do not and can not access your data. All backup schedules, file choices, options, etc. are completely in your control. Your data is compressed and encrypted before it leaves your office and you are the only one with a key.

Why do I need Datasafe Backup?

One of the most basic rules when using a computer is routinely backing up your files. Most users do not backup their data as often as they should and, if they do, they do not store their data safely off-site. Datasafe takes that hassle of backing up because there are no additional hardware components required. And you have the added security of having your files backed up off-site to our secure backup server.

How often should I use Datasafe Backup?

Most users backup daily. Our software allows you the flexibility to backup your data as often as you need. You can schedule your backups daily, weekly, or monthly using our automatic backup scheduler.

How long does the backup take?

Our backups are extremely fast. Actual backup time, though, depends on the amount of data being backed up and the speed of your internet connection.

What do I have to do each day to run a backup?

As long as your computer is left running, the schedule you have set up will run automatically with absolutely no intervention from you.

Are the backups incremental backups?

Our software allows you to choose the type of backup you need. You have complete control over choosing full, incremental, differential, or a mixture of all three. It's completely up to you.

I have a tape backup system so why should I use Datasafe Backup?

Tape backup systems can be reliable, but require a high level of ongoing maintenance to guarantee reliability. Like any computer hardware component, tape drives and tapes do break - and you might not realize it until you need to restore critical data. Tape backup systems have no encryption system built in - your tapes can be read from other devices. Most tape systems require human intervention - someone has to switch tapes each day and most users do not take their backup tapes off-site. Many clients continue to use their tape backup system as a redundant system to our Backup System.

How many backup sets do you retain?

As many as you require! Again, you can customize our software to retain backups as long as your require. Most clients retain their daily backups for 30 days and their monthly backups for 60 days.
